..too bloody hard to categorise..
Dead Can Dance - Spiritchaser, Into The Labyrinth, Aion. This superb duo continue to make really beautiful music that crosses boundaries and defies simple categorisation. We're quite embarrassed to admit that we only discovered them quite recently (where have our ears been.....) despite one-half of the band coming from Melbourne. Some informative links include Eyesore DCD and Dead Can Dance.
Laurie Anderson - Home of the Brave, The Ugly One with the Jewels, Mister Heartbreak, Bright Red, Puppet Motel (computer CDROM). The amazing kooky one herself. I (Tim) once had front row tickets for her Melbourne performance in 1989 only for the whole Australian tour to be cancelled because of illness. Talk about being ever so mildly annoyed - the only time I've ever managed to get tickets for anything even remotely close to the stage. Her work is certainly unique and is great for making you think. The Puppet Motel CDROM would have to be the best interactive CD we've ever come across. Homepage of the Brave is a good site for information, and if for some reason you wonder where Laurie surfs to on the WWW, check out Laurie Anderson's WWW List.
